Sarbananda Sonowal led Assam Government has appointed a top notch Supreme Court advocate, Maninder Singh to fight the legal battle for them against the APSC’s 41 sacked ACS-APS officials, who have filed a PIL to get their jobs back.
According to sources, there has been an agreement of Rupees Three crore, which is to be paid to the SC advocate.
The decision was taken after a meeting of the Advocate Generals of India and Assam.
A Gauhati High Court bench headed by Justice N Koteshwar Singh has agreed to hear the plea on June 18.
The possibility that the sacked officers involved in the APSC scam may get back their jobs has jolted the Assam government. It is a failure from the part of the state government that they did not maintain a proper procedure in dismissing them, giving them an edge in the Court which will decide their fate in the next few weeks.
An embarrassed Assam Government is now scratching their head as all the 41 ACS officers, who already got bail and out of jail, are now about to get stay order in the dismissal order.
Notably, a complaint has been registered at the Dibrugarh Police, pertaining to this issue, whose hearing is yet to begin.
In this light, the suspended officials have filed a PIL at the Gauhati High Court requesting them to be allowed to resume office.
