Ahead of the Independence Day, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday morning recovered a 0.22 pistol along with 30 rounds live bullets from the Kamrup Express at the Guwahati Railway Station.
According to Railway Authorities, the arms and ammunition were recovered from the ceiling inside a toilet of Coach No. S-11. “We recovered one .22 pistol along with 30 rounds of live ammunition from the down Kamrup Express train when it was standing at the platform No.1,” said a top official of GRP in Guwahati.
After this recovery, the whole train was searched by the GRP but no more arms and ammunition were found.
However, no arrests were made in connection with the recovery.
