Assam: AASU Erupts Protest Against CAB

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has also staged protests in different parts of the state after the Union Cabinet cleared the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

The Dibrugarh unit of AASU has staged a protest by burning tyres in the road and also raised slogans against the government and CAB. The protestors also wrote 'NO CAB' in the vehicles passed by the road and in the house of MLA Prasanta Phukan.

On the other hand, the Naharkatia AASU unit also staged a protest on Wednesday night and said that CAB won't be accepted at any cost.

The AASU membershave staged protest in a unique way by hanging the effigies of three ministersof AGP- Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Phani Bhusan Choudhury in the main gateof AGP MLA Naren Sonowal's house.

They also hangedthe effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam chief minister SarbanandaSonowal, Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rameshwar Telly in front of theoffice of revenue circle office.

Meanwhile, the AASU unit of Majuli also staged a protest by burning CAB in the road and also staged road blockade for one hour.

The AASU said that they will launch massive agitation in the state until and unless the government scraps the contentious bill. They said that they will not accept the CAB at any condition.
