Assam Assembly Law Committee prohibits school students from taking part in protest rallies

In a major decision, Assam Assembly's Law Committee on Monday announced that no school students will be allowed to take part in any protest rallies across the state from now on.

Assam has witnessed a massive rise in protest rallies across the State this year owing to issues of NRC, Citizenship and many others to name a few.

The decision was passed by Assembly Law Committee under BJP MLA and president of the committee, Mrinal Saikia.

"We have witnessed a number of school students taking part in protest activities during school hours. Most of the time they are unaware what is happening and this also affects their studies and results. From now on, if any school student take parts in any rally, the Principal/Director of the respective student would be held responsible and strong action will be taken against them," Mrinal Saikia said.
