Inaugurating a two-day seminar on 'Physical and Social Infrastructure for Regional Development' in Guwahati, Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on May 14 said that Assam is at the heart of the Centre's Act East Policy and the government is focusing on infrastructure development to ensure all-round development of the region.
"AssamĀ is at the heart of the Centre's Act East Policy and the North East also has the best reputation of being the hub for industrial communication for its proximity to the South Asian countries" the Governor said.
Prof. Mukhi also called for initiatives to utilise northeast's potential for development of the region.
The seminar is being organised by the Union Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI).
