Assam BJP reviews preparation for Panchayat polls

Assam state BJP on Friday reviewed preparations of the party for the upcoming Panchayat election likely to be held in the state.

BJP policy makers are reviewing the preparations for upcoming elections at a meeting attended by senior leaders and district leaders at the PWD convention centre.

Assam BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami addressing the meeting, focused on the finalizing and implementation of election strategies for various elections in the state.

He prompted the senior party leaders to make efforts to reach out the people on the ground level and highlight the works undertaken by the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the benefit of the common masses.

As per the official announcement, the Panchayat election is likely to be held in December this year.

The Panchayat polls will be held on December 5 and December 9 in two phrases in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12.

The last date for nomination for the first phrase is 15th November whereas the nomination date for the second phrase is 19th November.

In first phrase the elections will be held at Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivsagar, Saraideo, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darang, Morigaon, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup.

In the first phrase elections will be held for 251 Zila Parishad Councils (ZPC).

In the second phrase elections will be held at Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimgunj and Hojai. In the second phrase elections will be held for 169 Zila Parishad Councils (ZPC).
