The political temperature in Assam is rising since the announcement of dates for bypolls to its four Assembly seats. The election committee of the State BJP today finalised the shortlisted panel of candidates for the Legislative Assembly constituencies of Assam which will go to the bypolls on October 21.
Going one up on the opposition Congress, the BJP plans to field only winnable candidates in four constituencies. As per reports, the saffron party has fielded Nabanita Handique for Sonari, Muzibur Rahman Khan for Jania, Vijay Malakar for Ratabari and Rajen Borthakur for Rangapara constituency.
A formal announcement regarding the deal is yet to be made, and a BJP functionary said that the announcement is expected soon.
