Amidst the rising protest across the state against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the Lakhimpur district administration has interrupted the students to participate in any kind of protest.
The school inspector and district primary education official of Lakhimpur district has issued notice to the Principals and Headmasters of the schools and colleges not to allow any students to participate in the ongoing protests against CAB or else the education department will take strict action against the principals.
Meanwhile, state education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya has instructed the schools and colleges that no students could be allowed to participate in the protests against CAB.
Reacting on the education minister’s notification, the students of Cotton University has staged massive protest in the university premises against the minister by burning his effigy on late Friday night.
The minister said that the students of government schools and colleges will not be able to participate in the protests which have been protested by the Cottonians.
The Cottonians said that they will not accept the notification of the Education Minister threatening the minister that the protests will be more intense.
They also said that they will burn the effigy of the notification issued by the education minister.
