Assam: Eminent Writer Anima Guha Passes Away

Eminent writer Anima Guha has passed away on Wednesday due to age-related ailments. She was 90.

She breathed her last at her residence in Guwahati's Ulubari.

Anima Guha completed her Masters degree after her marriage to renowned historian and economist Amalendra Guha. She also did her PhD in in anthropology from Pune University.

Anima Guha was also pool officer of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research from 1980-1984.

A literary pensioner, Anima has written several books, essays, articles, translations and travelogues. Apart from participating in various seminars and conferences, Anima Guha has also published a number of research papers in scientific journals.

She also presented papers at the International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Science held in Zagrel (Yugoslavia) and in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief on the demise of the eminent writer. He also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished eternal peace to the departed soul.

It is noteworthy that Anima Guha wanted her body to be donated after her death, the procedure of which will take place at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) at 8 pm tonight.
