Assam Farmers open Rs 3 crore milk processing unit

The dairy farmers of Sitajakhala in Morigaon district have today opened a Rs 3 crore swanky milk processing unit in the cooperative sector..

This is the first such major attempt to process the milk and give competition to the giants like Amul and Purabi. The plant will initially process just 5000 liters a day although Cooperative produce around 17000 liters a day from 200 odd its members

The Sita Jakhala milk cooperative society is in existence since 1958 and over the last six decades it has grown to a big organization dominating scoail sky of the Jagiroad area.

The Plant was the fruit and dream of  untold dedication and struggle of the team led by its secretary Ranjib Sharma with the supports from Pushpa Dhar Das ad Bikash Bharali.

The milk will be processed in the unit and shall try to cater the market of Guwahati and Nagaon. The Dairy farmers  have been so far trying hard to get a permanent business shed in the city at a fair price. Now they are about to get lease property from the Dairy department, which has been lying unused at Khanapara for long, said Mr Sharma.
