A total of 13 police personnel from Assam featured in the list of President's police medal for distinguished service and police medals for meritorious service, this year.
The Central government on Saturday on the eve of Republic Day announced the names of recipients for the same.
Nitul Gogoi, DIG (MPC) has been chosen for the President's police medal for distinguished service, while the police medal for meritorious service will be awarded to Anurag Agarwal (IGP, BTAD), Ashok Kumar Dutta (inspector, Guwahati Police), Paresh Sahu (ASI at AP(IR) Battalion), Bipin Chandra Gogoi (havildar, 1st AP Battalion), Ganesh Kumar Singh (naik, SB), Krishna Kanta Lahan (naik, Sadiya), Binoy Sonowal (constable, Sadiya), Moinul Haque Laskar (constbale, Morigaon) Bijoy Saikia (constable, Sadiya), Jani Ram Boro (constable, Commando Battalion), Pravin Kumar (constable, Border Organisation) and Jiten Chandra Nath (constable, Nagaon).
Assistant Deputy Controller (Sr), Civil Defence Simanta Sarmah, home guard Mathur Mohan Kalita, home guard (volunteer) Bhupen Hazarika and havildar (home guard) Dhiren Chandra Deka were chosen for the home guards and civil defence medal for meritorious service.
