Assam Girl makes a mark in JNUSU politics

NSUI Candidate Himadree Sonowal from Assam’s Dibrugarh district wins JNU poll as Councillor for School of International Studies in JNU Student Union elections.

The counting of votes for the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) polls began on Saturday after an 11-hour delay due to a deadlock between the students and the administration, the varsity’s Election Committee said.

The United Left is cruising to a landslide victory in the JNU Students Union Elections 2019-20. Only the count of about 520 votes remains to be announced, and all central panel candidates of the United Left have taken massive, unassailable leads.

After counting 5150 votes, United Left candidates for President, Vice-President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary posts are leading by 1084, 1863, 1047 and 1628 votes respectively.
