Assam Govt to Launch AG Tests for COVID-19: Himanta

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that 1400 people have been infected with COVID-19 from June 24 till date in Guwahati.

Addressing the media today, the minister informed that the state government will also launch AG Test from Friday and the technician will be trained tomorrow to conduct the tests.

The minister further informed that in a telephonic conversation had with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it has come to know that Guwahati's COVID-19 situation will worsen. The home minister also asked to change the testing pattern and that 10,000 tests should be conducted every day.

The minister informed that the tests will be conducted and the results will come within 1 hour. The patients will be informed within 1 hour of the conduction of the tests whether they tests positive or negative.

The minister said that Guwahati has witnessed huge numbers of COVID-19 cases and it is for the first time that the cases cross 300 marks in a day on Tuesday.

He further stated that the health department has also witnessed 'Moderate Symptomatic Cases' for which aggressive treatment is necessary.
