Assam Men Go Missing On Way To Chennai, Mumbai

A person identified as Charaideo district's Maniram Bhumij (47) has been missing since June 18 after he left Assam for Chennai on June 16 in search of a job.

As per reports, a resident of Moran Khotkhoti under Moranhat PS, Bhumij boarded a train to Chennai from Simaluguri railway station on June 16. However, on June 20 one unidentified person called Bhumij's family from his phone and informed that Bhumij got down from the train at Vishakhapattanam railway station leaving behind his belongings in the train.

Since then Bhumij's phone has been switched off.

Even though Bhumij's family approached the police, however, the Moranhat police expressed their inability to help the family.

This is not the lone case where persons from Assam have gone missing or have faced dire consequences after they moved out of the state in search of jobs.

According to reports available, Hajo's Dipjyoti Das' life seems to be in danger after he went to Mumbai in search of a job along with one Rahmat Ali- with whom Das got acquainted while working at Golokganj in Dhubri district.

According to Das' family, the duo left for Mumbai and on June 18 after they reached Mumbai, Das called his mother and said that his life was in danger and if anything wrong happens to him then Rahmat Ali should be held responsible.

Soon after the phone call, there has been no trace of Das and his mobile is now switched off.

An FIR has been lodged at Hajo police station and police have begun an investigation.
