In a joint operation by Assam Police and Tamil Nadu police, 13 persons who were held captive in the Krishnagiri district have been rescued on Wednesday.
11 of the 13 persons rescued belong from Dibrugarh district while two are from Charaideo district.
The operation was launched after one of the men managed to share a video clipping describing their agony in the social media.
It may be mentioned that the youths who went for job in Tamil Nadu have been kept inside a room and were attacked by locals and also demanded money from them in lieu of freeing them.
Meanwhile, one of the men shared a video after which the police jointly launched the operation to rescue them.
However, Charaideo Superintendent of Police, Anand Mishra said that they received the information on Sunday after which they immediately contacted Tamil Nadu police to rescue the men.
The SP informed that the men were taken to Krishnagiri to work in a factory but was kept active after they got into a verbal altercation with the job contractor over some financial issue.
