Assam Police team sent to Arrest Garga Chatterjee returns empty-handed

A team of Assam police who had gone to Kolkata to arrest Kolkata-based political commentator Garga Chatterjee for making derogatory comments about the first Ahom king Chaolung Sukapha, had to return empty-handed on Tuesday after it failed to find him after three long days.

The three-member team was led by DCP (Crime) Barun Purkayastha. As per reports, Kolkata Police is not cooperating with Assam Police to arrest and bring Garga Chatterjee of West Bengal to Assam.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed Guwahati Police Commissioner to arrest and bring Garga Chatterjee of West Bengal to Assam for posting offensive remarks on social media about Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa and Ahom community.
