Assam Police’s armed branch recruits 1,373 new constables

In a major move to further strengthen abilities and manpower of Assam Police, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday distributed appointment letters to 1373 newly recruited constables (Armed Branch) for Barpeta, Nagaon and Dhubri districts at Khanapara, Guwahati.

One the occasion, the CM lauded Assam police for their courage, bravery and spirit of service in maintaining law and order in Assam.

"Our Government is working towards making Assam Police one of the smartest forces in the nation. I urge police personnel to develop more cordial relation with the public", CM Sonowal said while speaking on the occasion.

"Clean and honest recruitments help winning the trust of people and make them active stakeholders in the system. When young people from every section, particularly economically weaker ones have the chance to get into government system on the basis of merit, they strengthen governance," the CM added.

CM Sonowal also urged people to take a strong stand against corruption in the state. "If anyone gets to know about anyone indulging in corruption, they can inform us through all platforms, including writing to our official pages and websites. We will ensure that action is taken in the matter," CM Sonowal said.
