Assam : Political Parties Kick Off Campaign for 2nd & 3rd Phase

The political parties in the state have started campaign for second and third phase Lok Sabha polls in nine constituencies of Assam. At least 68 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise on the first phase of Lok Sabha polling in five constituencies in Assam on Thursday.

The second phase on April 18 will see Karimganj, Silchar, autonomous district, Mangaldoi and Nagaon conducting the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

The third phase on April 23 will see elections conducted on Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Guwahati.

Kripanath Mallah of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chandan Das of the All India Trinamool Congress, Swarup Das of the Indian National Congress and Radheshyam Biswas of the All India United Democratic Front are some of the prominent names that will contest the Lok Sabha election 2019 from Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.

Rajdeep Roy of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sushmita Dev of the Indian National Congress, Shyam Deo Kurmi of the Socialist Unity Centre Of India (COMMUNIST), Hitabrata Roy of the All India Trinamool Congress and Badrul Islam Barbhuiya of the All India Forward Bloc are some of the prominent names that will contest the Lok Sabha election 2019 from Silchar Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.

Horen Sing Bey of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Biren Singh Engti of the Indian National Congress, Lienkhochon of the National People’s Party and Holiram Terang of the Autonomous State Demand Committee are some of the prominent names that will contest the Lok Sabha election 2019 from Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.

In 2014, Ramen Deka from BJP won the Mangaldoi seat against INC’s Kirip Chaliha. This year, BJP has fielded Dilip Saikia from the Lok Sabha seat while Congress has fielded senior Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita.

In Nagaon, BJP has fielded Rupak Sarmah from the Lok Sabha seat while Pradyut Bordoloi from Congress party will contest from the same constituency.
