Assam rushes ‘inaugurations’ as poll notification next week

The Election schedule for General Election will be announced early next week and Assam Government is racing against time for kicking off all the vote catching scheme  in the next 72 hours.

There are indications that latest by Tuesday or Wednesday forenoon the election shall be declared and Assam will be in the first phase to avoid the poll clashing with the Bihu celebration.

The Dispur has also been tipped off by Delhi about the date and  as a result Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and  Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma are rushing around  schemes from Rs 1 Kg rice to foundation laying of hospitals, bridges, roads and inaugurating Ro-Ro service.

The officers of all the major department like PWD, health, P&RD, Food & Civil Supply, Social Welfare are burning mid night oil as each of they are trying to organize something or the other before the poll notification giving the ruling party platform to blow their own trumpet.

"I just hope that next Wednesday comes soon' said a Commissioner of the Assam Government on condition of anonymity tired of meeting request and orders of the Ministers. Their only hope the notification time, when by guideline of the Election Commission,  no new schemes and projects would be announced.

Meanwhile yesterday there were four such functions including 'Swabolombon" the scheme to help the surrendered militants besides distributing of medical reimbursement cheques by the state information and public relation department, even if not money has been freshly added by the BJP government.
