Assam use 11% of Poshon, bad situation: Smriti

Assam has used just 11% of the budget of the "Poshan Abhiyan", the project to fight child malnutrition and Union Child Welfare Minister Smriti Irani today expressed grave concern over that.

Assam Chief Welfare Minister Prameela Rani Brahma cited some legal hurdle for the slow progress, but Ms Irani gave 11 months to resolve the issues and take it forward.

This is noteworthy that Union Government has pushed for Poshan abhiyan to improve the child healthcare of India but Assam has not been giving focus on it.

Union Minister of Textiles, Women and Child Development Smriti Irani arrived Guwahati and chaired a meeting with Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal at Brahmaputra Guest House to hold discussions on a number of issues.

Irani reviewed the implementation of various welfare schemes of her ministry in the state. She emphasized on putting extra effort so that people avail maximum benefits of the schemes. Two senior ministers of the state – Pramila Rani Brahma and Ranjit Dutta – were also present during the meeting.
