Assam son martyred in J&K terror attack


A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan from Assam  named Maneshwar Basumatary of 98th Battalion  has been martyred in the biggest ever attacks on the Indian security forces  by the Militants from the Jaish-e-Mohammad that claimed the lives of 44 CRPF jawans on Thursday.

Basumatary hailed from Tamulpur’s Kalbari.

Another jawan from Bongaigaon, Pabitra Barman, was also in the convoy. Soon after the attack there were rumors of the jawans death in social media. However, family members have confirmed of his well being. The jawan face moinor injuries in the attack.

It was a convoy of 50 vehicles which came under the attack Jaish-e-Mohammad as the terrorist used suicide bombers using IED on Thursday.

The convoy was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and was on its way to Pulwama when a suicide bomber driving an explosive-laden SUV crashed into the bus. The bus had 39 jawans on board when the SUV crashed into it.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the incident and tweeted , “Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on #CRPF jawans in  #Pulwama Terror has no place in India and we must together fight this menace as a nation. My heart goes out to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives today. Deepest condolences”.
