Assam State Zoo Welcomes Asiatic Lion


The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden has welcomed a new pair of Asiatic lion brought from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat. Forest Minister Parimal Sulabaidya released the pair of lion named ‘Dhiren’ and ‘Rani’ from the enclosures for the visitors.

Releasing the lions from the enclosures, Suklabaidya has given a round in the zoo by sitting in the golf carts inaugurated today.

Moreover, Zoo officials said that two Giraffe will be brought in September.

The Minister also launched golf cart in the zoo for the visitors. Launching the golf cart, Suklabaidya said, “The reintroduction of the golf cart will be very essential and helpful for the visitors to enjoy the beauty of Assam state Zoo. The battery operated carts are adopted in line with our commitment of eco-friendly goal for the environment of the zoo.”

The minister also felicitated a young boy Manas Das, son of a zoo employee for securing outstanding result in the HSLC examination.
