The splendid Assam tableau shined at the 70th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on Saturday in all its glory.
"Manchester of the East" – Sualkuchi, was the theme of the official tableau of Assam for the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26.
Music Maestro Bhupen Hazarikas song 'Jai Jai Ram Rahim' was played in the background, when the tableau passed through the saluting dais.
The hard work and dedication of the local weavers at the national level was presented by the Assam tableau.
The Assam tableau displayed the states rich cultural heritage along with displayed Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Sualkuchi in the year 1946 – which is often referred to as the 'Manchester of the East'.
