Government of Assam on Saturday announced an interim hike of Rs 30 in the minimum wage of tea garden workers across the state.
Addressing a press meet, Minister of State for Tea Tribe Welfare Pallab Lochan Das informed that the 30 rupees hike is on an interim basis and the final hike shall be decided later by the government.
“An one-man committee has also been constituted to finalise the overall increase in wages” said Pallab Lochan Das.
The Minister further added that all tea garden workers shall be insured free of cost and the state government will bear the insurance amount for the workers under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana. He also informed that 100 girl students of the tea tribe across the state shall be provided with a scooty each.
