Assam To Have 7 New Cancer Hospitals
Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that the state will come up with seven new cancer hospitals.
The contract of construction of cancer hospitals has been given to Larsen & Toubro by Assam Cancer Care Foundation. The project will cost Rs. 736crore.
The new cancer hospitals will be constructed in Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Darrang, Jorhat and the cancer hospital of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will be upgraded in the first phase, the minister informed.
He further said that the construction work will be started from August, 2019.
In the second phase, three more cancer hospitals will be constructed in the state.
