At a time when the Assam PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen instructing the contractors to repair the roads, it seems that this has become a dramatical seen as most of the roads in the state are still in a dilapidated condition.
In Mushalpur area in Baksa district, commuters will get confused whether the roads are actually a road or a pond. It was even after 70 years of Independence that people of Mushalpur have to travel through unpaved roads. The connecting roads of Suwankhata to Mushalpur town have turned pot holes.
On the other hand, there has been a massive scam in Majuli PWD department as there has been a immense irregularity in the construction of Perabhari-Balisapori path as the road which has been constructed with worth Rs. 40lakhs has now been damaged completely.
It may be mentioned that in 2018, contractor Juwel Bora has received a contract of Rs. 1.20crore to repair the roads in Majuli and the Bongaon-Balisapori road has been constructed with worth Rs. 40lakhs. But the road has been damaged completely with one year itself.
Moreover, the roads in Kheroni in Karbi Anglong have seen an unhygienic condition. The daily market in Kheroni becomes so dirty that people will have to think twice before they step into it.
The potholes in the road are filled with rain water which also makes the market dirty due to which many people falls sick as the surroundings in the area become unhygienic with the spell of rain.
Meanwhile, local people of Lahowal in Dibrugarh have urged PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ride a bicycle in the roads. It has been 20 years that not a single PWD road have been constructed in the area.
