Assam: Villagers Decry Dilapidated Road Condition

At a time when the Assam PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen instructing the contractors to repair the roads, it seems that this has become a dramatical seen as most of the roads in the state are still in a dilapidated condition.

In Mushalpur area in Baksa district,commuters will get confused whether the roads are actually a road or a pond. Itwas even after 70 years of Independence that people of Mushalpur have to travelthrough unpaved roads. The connecting roads of Suwankhata to Mushalpur townhave turned pot holes.

On the other hand, there has been a massivescam in Majuli PWD department as there has been a immense irregularity in theconstruction of Perabhari-Balisapori path as the road which has beenconstructed with worth Rs. 40lakhs has now been damaged completely.

It may be mentioned that in 2018,contractor Juwel Bora has received a contract of Rs. 1.20crore to repair theroads in Majuli and the Bongaon-Balisapori road has been constructed with worthRs. 40lakhs. But the road has been damaged completely with one year itself.

Moreover, the roads in Kheroni in KarbiAnglong have seen an unhygienic condition. The daily market in Kheroni becomesso dirty that people will have to think twice before they step into it.

The potholes in the road are filled withrain water which also makes the market dirty due to which many people fallssick as the surroundings in the area become unhygienic with the spell of rain.

Meanwhile, local people of Lahowal inDibrugarh have urged PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ride a bicycle in theroads. It has been 20 years that not a single PWD road have been constructed inthe area.
