Assamese short film ‘Octopus’ shines in Int’l Film Festival

Assamese short film 'Octopus' has earned accolades and recognition in various film festivals nationally as well as internationally including the prestigious 11th international Guwahati Film Festival 2018 organized by Gauhati Cine Club in District library, Guwahati.

In the event, the film has garnered the title of 'Best short film'. The film had been selected for Best short film category among nine other national-international short films.

Cigarette use is a global epidemic among young people. As with adults, it poses a serious health threat to youth and young adults in the country and has significant implications for this nation's public and economic health in the future. The story of the film based on 'Cigarette'. 'Octopus' tried to create awareness on smoking-related diseases.

The key roles in the film have been essayed by Prasanta Kumar Das and Gitartha Sarma.

Music director Paran Borkataky played a vital role in music direction of the film.

The cinematography of the film has been done by Prabin Basumatary, sound design by Bhupesh Saikia, Mrinmoy Ammik Phukan, Ashim Sarmah and Jitu Roy in video editing.

Young filmmaker Raja Charan Singh's 'Deuka', 'Crimevirus.com', 'Abalang nagarar joborjong kahini' screened at Assamese news channel 'Pratidin Time'.

It may be mentioned that 'Octopus' has got Official selection for 'Kala Samruddhi International Short Film Festival 2018′.
