The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) launched the Chalo App to introduce various digital initiatives for its bus services in Guwahati.
The App has been designed to enable commuters to track the live position of their bus on a map. The commuters can now buy a mobile pass or get tickets from the App through the Automated Fare Collection System causing a smooth travel experience and they don’t have to wait for buses at the stoppages for long hours.
ASTC has also announced a 35% concession on its bus fares for the girl commuters travelling within Guwahati. Concession will also be given to boys (30%), Senior Citizens (50%), Physically Challenged (100%), Freedom Fighters (100%) and Media (80%).
Launching the app, Anand Prakash Tiwari, MD, ASTC said that the first phase will cover 250 city buses. He also said that Assam will be the first state in the country in a few months time to have a state-wide smart transport solution and common mobility card for its commuters.
