Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition still unstable: Nation prays for recovery

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is on life support and his condition continues to be critical. PM Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah reached AIIMS to take a brief of his health.

All the key events of BJP have been postponed including its National Executive meeting which was scheduled for August 18-19. According to sources there is no improvement in Vajpayee's health.'Havans' are being conducted in his hometown, Gwalior in MP and in the constituency he represented, Lucknow.

Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi has reached and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar may reach AIIMS soon. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah prayed for Vajpayee's recovery and said, "We should not forget that he is a leader who wanted to make the country strong. He wanted peace not only in our country but in the whole world." West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal are on their way to the hospital.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is too headed to AIIMS from Guwahati cancelling all the official and unofficial meetings for the day.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for the last nine weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately, his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours.

The former PM's overall health had deteriorated after he suffered a stroke in 2009. He was admitted to AIIMS on June 11 with kidney tract infection, chest congestion, urinary tract infection and low urine output, indicating impaired kidney functions.
