South West Khasi Hills district police chief Maxwell Syiem on Wednesday said that the Meghalaya police have identified one of the assailants seen in a viral video of naked man being relentlessly hit by some youths in a village of the district that borders Bangladesh.
The yet-to-be ascertained victim in video was seen pleading for forgiveness by screaming in the name of god with folded hands. However, the pleas fell in deaf years as the assailants continued to shower continuous blows on the face and chest of the man; apart from kicking in his lower half of the body.
Syiem informed that the incident occurred at Ranikor village of the district, however, the date of occurrence of the incident is yet to be established.
Police further informed that most of the attackers were from the village. The police is trying to establish the identity and the whereabouts of the victim.
