Awadhe Warriors secured a convincing 5-0 win over North Eastern Warriors as they won all five ties of the meeting between the two sides played on Wednesday. In the most awaited match of the evening, North Eastern trump Saina Nehwal lost to World No.10 Beiwen Zhang 15-11, 11-15, 7-15 at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.
With this thumping victory margin, Awadhe Warriors go on top of the PBL 4 points table, surging ahead of defending champions Hyderabad Hunters. While Awadhe needed only four points to go level on points with Hyderabad, they got more as Zhang cancelled Nehwal's trump challenge which yields extra points. For Awadhe Warriors, Ashwini Ponappa and Matthias Christiansen won the trump challenge to bag full points.
