The Bajali College in Barpeta district will soon be upgraded to Bhattadev University. As per sources, the procedure and 26 colleges in Barpeta and Nalbari districts will be brought under the Bhattadev University.
The government has allotted fund of Rs 2.60 crore for construction of the university.
"Steps have been taken at the government level to declare Bajali college as Bhattadev University" : said college authority.
Govt. has also issued advertisements for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Bhattadev University. Construction work for the proposed university has already begun and authorities concerned are looking to complete it at the earliest.
Bajali College is a self-financed institute affiliated to Gauhati University. It offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Science courses. Bajali College was established at Pathsala as a co-educational institution on 16 August 1955.
