Bakaliaghat: AASU Demands to Withdraw Ordinance to Set up Industry

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Bakaliaghat unit has staged a protest on Thursday against the state government's ordinance allowing anyone to set up industry in the state.

The AASU members shouted slogans against the state government and also burnt the effigy of the draft of land act.  

The agitators' shouted slogans like 'Sarbananda Sonowal Go Back', 'BJP Go Back' and demanded to withdraw decision against the interest of the indigenous people.

After allowing to set up industry by the state government, many have taken umbrage at the ordinance that says that "no permission, clearance or license will be required for three years." While many people are considering the ordinance to be against the interests of the indigenous people of Assam, many others are highlighting the threat the ordinance may pose to the environment of the state.

The AASU also demanded to withdraw the decision of the government adding that such kind of ordinance will not be accepted at any cost by the people of Assam.
