Bandh affects normal life in Upper Assam

The 12-hour bandh called by Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad (TAYP) has affected the normal life in Upper Assam on Saturday.

The supporters of the bandh burnt tyres at the National Highway in Tinsukia, Sivasagar and other parts of upper Assam. They shouted slogans against Narendra Modi and BJP government. The bandh has been called to demand the scrapping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Guwahati on Friday evening to take part in several programmes in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Saturday. AASU, KMSS and other organisations waved black flags at the Prime Minister during his way to Raj Bhawan from the LGBI Airport in Guwahati last evening.
