Ahead of the Durga Puja celebration, the Guwahati Police has warned the puja committees to take special security measures as a group of miscreants have recently entered the city that can create unwanted situations during the puja season. The group has come from Delhi, according to police sources.
The Guwahati Commissioner of Police Deepak Kumar on Wednesday said that the city police are taking measures to beef up security arrangements. The police have asked all the puja committees to install CCTV cameras in the pandals.
The Commissioner informed that the police would issue guidelines to the puja committees as part of the security arrangements. The police also asked the puja committees to submit a list of volunteers.
Besides, all the pandals will have police personnel deployed along with local volunteers. The puja committees will always be in touch with the local police station so that any unwanted situation can be tackled immediately. The city police have urged people to follow the instructions.
