Bells robbed from Tilinga mandir, two detained

After Ugratara temple in Guwahati, thieves robbed another temple in the State. The incident took place at famous Bordubi Tilinga mandir in upper Assam’s Duliajan.

A group of miscreants robbed the temple and looted several ritual bells from the temple. Situated at Bordubi, the Tilinga mandir is a famous Shiva temple in upper Assam. Tilinga means ‘bell’ in Assamese. The temple is nearly half a century old.

Police meanwhile, acting on a tip off, detained two thieves along with the ritual bells. The detainees were identified as Saminur Rahman of Golakganj and Salam Ali of Nagaon.

“Investigations are on,” said a senior police official.
