Bhabanipur: Assam CM Campaigns for Phanidhar Talukdar, Assures Development

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday participated in a campaign rally for BJP candidate Phanidhar Takukdar in Bhabanipur. addressing the rally, the chief minister said, "I asked Phanidhar Talukdar to join BJP as the 'Lock and Key' keeps smelling", referring to AIUDF. He added "I had asked Phanidhar Talukdar to leave his MLA post for the development of Bhabanipur constituency. Remaining in opposition would hamper development."

CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was present today at the election campaign of Bodoland Territorial Region's (BTR) Rupahi candidate Phanidhar Talukdar from Bhabanipur constituency. He was joined by BTR chief Pramod Bodo, minister UG Brahma and CM's political secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah.

He also said that in the fight against drugs that are affecting the youth, around 400 crores worth of illicit substances have been seized. He also said that illegal brokering circles will be abolished, adding that government employees will stop taking bribes from the common people within his five years of tenure.

The CM also announced government assistance to Bathou temple. He also announced that an auditorium will be built in the memory of Uttam Kherkatari. He also promised roads and ensured that the erosion problem in Pahumara will be tackled.

Dr. Sarma said "Science and Commerce branches will be started from April in Salbari College. Thirty bedded hospital will be opened in Mainao Market. A Nursing College will be established in BTR's Ruaphi."

The CM also said that a Handloom Center worth 15 crores will be established. The Assam government will buy 'Dakhana' and 'Arnai' worth 1 crore. He also announced a stadium between Rupahi and Somuagati.

Saying that the people cannot be cheated, the CM again stressed that from 15 November onwards, 11 lakh women will be given microfinance loan waivers and that he will provide cheques for that. He said that the Arunodoi scheme worth will be increased from April and 7000 people from Bhabanipur constituency will get the benefits.

Addressing the event, Pramod Bodo mentioned that at one time no one here knew who the chief minister of Assam was and now the CM is at our footsteps. He then stated that for development in BTR there must be stable governance. He said "Everyone should get their land rights and everyone's language culture should be upheld and I am working for that. The people of BTR will always be indebted to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma."

Thirty people under the leadership of Ranjit Kherkatari also joined the BJP.
