Bharat Bandh cripples normal life in Assam

Congress has called for a Bharat Bandh on Monday pertaining to rising prices of fuel and LPGs.  CPI has come forward in support of Congress to protest against price hike.

The 12 hour bandh has seen effecting the entire nation along with Assam.

Several parts of the state have been effected by the Congress called Bandh. The Bandh had come into effect from five in the morning.

A section of the supporters of the Bandh were seen burning tyres on the roads. Protestors in Duliajan, Nagaon and Tezpur have also been detained by the police.

Nine mail/express and passengers trains had to be detained or were delayed by almost an hour due to picketers obstructing tracks at various stations in Lumding and Tinsukia.

Picketers had resorted to blockade of railway tracks at Silchar between Kalkalighat and Baraigram, between Moranhat and Sibsagar Town, at Digboi and between Nakachari and Mariani. However, the blockades had been lifted later and train services resumed.
