Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi today alleged that the BJP and RSS are trying to impose autocratic rule in the nation by going against ‘Gandhibad’.
He said the BJP-led government at the Centre wanted to impose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 into this region, which is a dangerous threat to Northeast’s culture and to the nation’s hallmark of ‘right to equality’.
“From Amit Shah to RSS Chief, everyone asserted that they are committed to pass the Bill in any circumstance.” : Gogoi.
Akhil exhorted the people to come out en masse on the streets to protest against the Bill as there was a possibility of it being placed in the parliament by December.
“The entire region will be “worst affected” by the CAB”; Gogoi demands centre to exclude the North-East from the purview of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
“BJP is trying to scrap the Final NRC (Published on August 31)” Gogoi added.
KMSS affirmed that any attempt made by the union or state government to impose any language on the indigenous people would not be accepted.
The Centre going ahead with the Bill would be the biggest mistake in the history of India’s independence, adding that the forum would “never compromise in this issue.”
KMSS would create awareness to the common people the ill effect of the bill. KMSS has proposed to launch a movement to create awareness against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 starting October 11, 2019 in the state marking the beginning of the awareness campaign against CAB.
