A black flag protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is being staged by All Assam Students' Union (AASU) activists on January 28th, 2019 in Nalbari district of Assam.
Nalbari District Students Union demanded punishment for the miscreants who pelted stones on the their activists while they waved black flags at Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday in Ghograpar protesting against the C'ship Bill and also disrespecting their flag. The AASU activists were also allegedly attacked at Nalbari police station by the BJP workers.
The students' body will also stage a protest and block the NH-31 demanding action against BJP's hooliganism . However security have been tightened in the district to prevent any untoward incident.
Notably, in protest against the contentious Bill, black flags were waved at Minister Sarma on various occasions and in different part of the State. It may be mentioned that, almost all the senior leaders of Assam BJP including CM Sarbananda Sonowal had to face the wrath of public on their way on different occasions.
