Bodo Imbrogolio: Centre to resolve Bodo issue

For a sustainable and permanent peace in the region, the Union government has decided to solve the long pending Bodoland statehood demand – Union home minister Rajnath Singh told a delegation of Bodo pressure groups on Monday.

Home minister Singh took part in a tripartite talk with the representatives of All Bodo Student Union (ABSU) and People's Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM) in the presence of the officials of state home department in New Delhi.

In the tripartite talk, Singh gave assurance to Bodo representatives that he would talk with the Assam government and all other stakeholders on various demand raised by ABSU and other pressure groups. Union home secretary Rajiv Gauba, director IB, joint secretary (NE) Satyendra Garg, represented the Centre.

On the other hand, Assam additional chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, special branch DGP Pallab Bhattacharyya, principal secretary L S Changsan and IGP Hiren Nath were present from the state government side.

ABSU denied reports that the student body had discussed on the reported Union Territorial Council issue.

The Union home minister stated that talks with the Bodo pressures groups will continue at official level for permanent solution.

The Centre has assured to call back the movement group for tripartite talks in December after having discussion inside the government.

The Bodo delegation was accompanied by two former MPs including UG Brahma and SK Bwismuthiary. The PJACBM was represented by Rakesh Boro and Garjan Mashahary.
