Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup: Mohammedan Sporting enter Semis

Traditional heavyweights Mohammedan Sporting defeated Udalguri-based Daimalu FC by 2-1 to book their place in the semifinals of the 19th Bodoland Martyrs' Gold Cup in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

After a goalless first half, the game burst into life after the interval as Debasish Pradhan(53') broke the deadlock for the Black Panthers before Philip Adjah(67') doubled the lead for the Kolkata-side. Late inside injury time Sukur Singh pulled one back for Daimalu FC but it was too late for a turnaround then.

Earlier this month, Mohammedan Sporting clinched the 65th Bordoloi Trophy title in Guwahati getting past Oil India FC 3-1.

The tournament is the brainchild of Ex-BLT welfare society in association with KDSA and is being organized annually in memory of the martyrs' of Bodoland who sacrificed their lives for the statehood.
