Bongaigaon: BhadraGaon Relief Camp People Unaware About I-Day


The entire state of Assam has geared up to celebrate the Independence Day along with the rest of the country but there are still some people who do not know about Independence Day.

The people residing in BhadraGaon relief camp in Bongaigaon district is not aware of Independence Day.

It is almost 30 years that people from Chirang district are still residing in the relief camp. They had shifted to the camps after the Bodo Movement in order to save their lives. They might have not even thought that they would have to live in the relief camps for so long at the time of displacement.

On the one hand, the state government is celebrating Independence Day and on the other, these people have no idea about the I-Day.

Are they really independent, who don’t even have their own house to live in, no income to earn their bread and butter. The people expressed anger over the government who don’t even have idea about them who is living in the camps for not one or two years but for almost 30 years.

The people alleged that the government has not provided any kind of assistance and now they have to think even for one-time food.
