Burha Police SI resumes duty

Mahendra Sarma, the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Burha Police Outpost, who was suspended for allegedly stripping, torturing three women during interrogation in an abduction case, joins in Mangaldoi Sadar PS on Friday.

The enquiry conducted into allegations made by the three women also rubbished claims of miscarriage of one of the women due to extreme torture by a team of police led by the inspector-in-charge of the outpost.

However, the nearly 250-page enquiry report prepared by DIG (CWR) Brasenjit Singha did find the police team at fault for apprehending the accused women between midnight and sunrise, which is not permissible.
