BWF bans two Malaysian badminton players

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has handed over career-ending bans to two Malaysian badminton players after found guilty of breaching the BWF code of conduct.

In a statement, BWF said that former world junior champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli, aged 25 was banned for 20 years with a fine of 25,000 Dollars and shuttler Tan Chun Seang, aged 31 was barred for 15 years with a fine of 15,000 Dollars.

The BWF stated that the two shuttlers were found guilty of breaching the BWF code of conduct in context of betting, wagering and irregular match results. In February, hearings were held by a BWF ethics panel in Singapore pertaining to the case.

The panel had found both the players involved in corruption offences over a significant period and a significant number of tournaments which dates back to 2013.

BWF had provisionally suspended both the players on January 12 and it is on the same day that their suspension began.
