The students of Cotton University wore black badges on Friday, demanding that the state be exempted from the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA).

Earlier, students of seven universities and several colleges of the state had jointly staged a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at the Gauhati University campus on Wednesday. The students also declared a war against the government policy and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and vowed to continue their agitations against the Act.

In the wake of the widespread protests and outrage, the University postponed its examinations to avoid any kind of untoward situation.

An official message says that all end semester examinations of UG 1st and 3rd semesters, PG 1st and 3rd Semester, MCA 1st, 3rd, 5th semester and HS 2nd year and pre-final examinations are rescheduled to be held in January 2020.
