Black flags were waved at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal when he arrived at the Assam House in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. Two youths waved the black flags as the convoy of the chief minister made its way to the Assam House.
Later, both the youths were apprehended by the police from the spot, as they continued shouting slogans against the chief minister and the government. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in front of the Assam house following the incident.
The protest was against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which seeks to grant Indian nationality to Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians, Buddhists and Jains from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Sonowal, who heads the BJP-led coalition government in the State, has been facing protests by members of different organisations over the bill.
Also, mass movements, led by students, youth and regional organisations, have been building up in the State against the Bill.
