The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) along with 30 other organizations has launched massive agitation across the state against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
The organizations have staged a protest at National Highway No 31 in Sarbhog near BJP State President Ranjit Kumar Das’s house. The protestors burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and raised slogans against the government.
The protestors also demanded to scrap the bill immediately and said that this protest will not stop until and unless the government withdraws it.
On the other hand, the Duliajan unit of AASU has staged protest in a different way by burning tyres in front of the MLA Teros Gowala’s house and by hanging his effigy in a tree. The protestors also hanged the effigies of PM Narendra Modi, CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma, Atul Bora, Phani Bhusan Choudhury.
The students’ union has staged the protest in different parts and become aggressive against CAB. They threatened the government that CAB won’t be accepted which will put the state in danger.
However, AASU Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya repeatedly said that Assam is not a dustbin and we cannot take the burden of foreigners anymore and therefore, CAB will not be accepted at any condition.
