Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 was listed for business today at Rajya Sabha and Government in all likelihood would try to pass it by tomorrow while the Congress will lead a strong opposition to it.
Tomorrow is the last day for the Rajya Sabha. Here is the full strength of the Pro and Anti CAB in the Rajya Sabha.
In the Rajya Sabha following is the floor situation as on today. As on today on paper the pro CAB bloc has more numbers than the anti CAB bloc. But there are ambiguity over BJD and BSP as both have not cleared their stand. That bloc is 13 and that may swing the bill either way and there is more likelihood of them going in favour of the CAB.
Moreover there is also whispers of four from the Pro CAB bloc seeking leave on 13th February, the day the bill is likely to be taken up for voting. At this moment Congress is seeking a debate and division. But the floor mangers of the ruling party are equally confident of passing the bill despite they do not officially have the numbers,
