CAB unlikely to be discussed today

Amid protest all over and massive uproar against the Citizenship Amendment Bill  2016  on Tuesday,  there are chances that the bill may not be discussed at the Rajya Sabha (RS) today. The first hour from 11 am to 12 pm is the zero hour second hour is the question hour and from 1 o’clock to 2 o’clock is the lunch hour

Ten hours have been allocated for the President’s speech and debate. Reply to the President’s speech by the Prime Minister is scheduled to take place place sometime around 1030 -11 o’clock if at all RS is allowed to work normally.

So there are  probabilities that the discussion on the of Amendment Bill may not take place on Tuesday and it would be passed over to Wednesday’s Schedule.

At this moment pro CAB has got 100 and anti CAB has got 120 members and there are 13 un-decided members.

However, the BJP is confident that they will be able to pass the bill as they will have to better floor coordination and manage the requisite numbers.

It is to be mentioned that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) may also oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 at the Upper House.

However, as per reports , as many as four MPs will remain absent on medical grounds on the remaining days of the session of the Upper House – Rajya Sabha.

BJP insider says it is 118–113 for CAB.
